When the Same Pain Keeps Repeating

Most couples don't struggle because they don't know how to communicate.  They struggle because the same patterns quietly shape every conversation.  Lasting change begins by uncovering the attachment and nervous system dynamics driving those patterns.

Are You Lonely in the one place you're supposed to feel at home?

You're speaking to each other.  You're just not reaching each other.

Boulder Couples Therapist

Has love always asked you to leave parts of yourself behind?

You keep shrinking, performing, pleasing, or disappearing until you barely recognize yourself.  And somewhere along the way, the relationship stopped feeling like home.

Therapy That Looks Beneath the Pattern

I'm Keri, a Relationship Therapist in Boulder, CO

By the time couples find me, they've usually tried almost everything. You may have worked harder, changed how you communicate, or done everything your therapist suggested. Yet it still hasn't helped. The problem isn't a lack of effort. It's that the underlying pattern hasn't changed.

Areas We May Work On

  • Emotional disconnection and recurring conflict cycles
  • Betrayal recovery and rebuilding emotional safety
  • Intimacy, desire differences, and sexual disconnection
  • ADHD, neurodivergence, masking, and relationship overwhelm
  • Anxious-avoidant relationship dynamics
  • Emotional volatility, withdrawal, or shutdown patterns
  • Non-monogamy, ruptures in open relationships, and relational ambiguity
  • Co-parenting, separation, and discernment around what comes next

What is the pattern beneath the pattern?

Every relationship develops an invisible pattern of organizing around closeness, conflict, distance, and protection. Until that becomes visible, the same pain tends to return in different forms. Lasting change begins when you can finally see what has been shaping your relationship all along. Once you can see it, everything makes more sense. What once felt confusing begins to feel coherent.

Couples Therapy

I work with couples navigating emotional disconnection, recurring conflict, betrayal, intimacy issues, and relationship transitions. My approach is rooted in attachment theory, nervous system dynamics, somatic therapy, and relational neuroscience — helping couples move beyond surface conflict and understand the deeper patterns shaping their relationship.

The goal is not perfection, but greater emotional safety, connection, and meaning.
